How to Play Stat GM

Spin. Pick. Sim. Compare.

Spin a historical team-season, draft one eligible player, and build a complete roster. Then simulate how that group projects across 162 games.

The complete game loop

Four steps. That's the game.

Everything else on this page helps you make better decisions or choose a different way to play.

  1. 01

    Spin a team-season

A random MLB team and year appears. That exact historical roster becomes your draft board.

  2. 02

    Pick one player

Choose one eligible hitter or pitcher from the board and place that season into an open roster slot.

  3. 03

    Finish the roster

Keep spinning and picking. You may pass on a board, but every spin counts against your limit.

  4. 04

    Simulate 162

Once every required slot is filled, Stat GM turns the completed roster into a projected 162-game record.

15 spins is the default. 18 spins is optional. You do not have to pick from every board. The game only blocks another spin when skipping would leave too few chances to fill your remaining roster spots.

Draft-room tour

Know where to look

The layout changes to fit your screen, but the same four pieces remain: the current team-season, player board, roster, and remaining spins.

  1. 1
    Team-season

Every board comes from one real team and year. Team and year change with each spin.

  2. 2
    Player board

Switch hitters/pitchers and sort the visible stats.

  3. 3
    Roster

Open positions show which players you can draft.

  4. 4
    Spin budget

Track remaining boards against remaining roster spots.

What you are building

Fill every required slot

Classic uses LF, CF, RF, 3B, SS, 2B, 1B, C, SP, and RP. DH Mode adds a hitter-only wildcard; Extra SP adds a second starter; using both creates a 12-pick roster.

Hitters need at least five games at a fielding position. Pitchers need at least five starts for SP or five relief appearances for RP.

Ways to play

Learn in Solo. Compete on the same boards.

Solo is the easiest place to learn. Challenge Mode and Daily GM are where Stat GM becomes competitive—and where the real fun is. Other users see the same team-season boards, so the difference is what each person does with them.

Common questions

FAQ

Do I need an account?

No account is needed for Solo. An account is required to draft in 1v1 Challenge Mode or Daily GM.

Do I have to pick from every board?

No. You can spin again without making a pick while enough spins remain to fill every open roster slot. Every spin still counts.

Can I undo or replace a pick?

No. Once a player is drafted into a slot, that pick is locked for the rest of the draft.

Do 1v1 opponents have to draft at the same time?

No. Standard Challenges are asynchronous. Once a challenge begins each user has 24 hours to complete their draft though most challenges are completed by both users within 5 minutes.

How is a 1v1 winner decided?

The higher projected win total wins. Ties use combined hitting and pitching rating, then spins left, before recording a tie.

What does the projected record measure?

It evaluates the historical season statistics on the completed roster and converts the hitting and pitching results into a 162-game projection. Read the scoring guide for details.
