Tournament FAQ

How do I enter?

Open an event on the Tournaments page and click Enter free. You can withdraw until registration closes.

How do I qualify?

The entered players with the best Challenge ranks make the field. Your qualification position shows where you rank among that tournament’s entrants.

You must have a Challenge rank to qualify. If you are below the cut, play regular Challenges to improve your rank before the field is set.

How large is the field?

The maximum is set at 16, 32, or 64 players. If there are not enough ranked entrants, the tournament drops to the next available size. Fewer than 16 ranked entrants means the tournament is canceled.

How does the bracket work?

The field is split into four regions. The regional winners advance to the Final Four, followed by the Championship. There is no reseeding.

Do I need to be online with my opponent?

No. There are no scheduled game times. Play on your own time before the round deadline.

How many games do I have to play?

As many or as few as you want. Games unlock in order, and the full Best of 3, 5, or 7 remains available for the entire round—even after someone clinches the series. The winner appears in the next bracket slot immediately, but the next round still opens on schedule.

What happens at the deadline?

If one player submits a lineup for a game and the other does not, the submitted lineup wins by forfeit. If neither submits, it is a double forfeit. If neither player submits anything during the series, both are disqualified.

Later rounds begin at their listed times, even when the previous round finishes early.

How are tied series decided?

Game wins come first. If those are tied, cumulative Overall Rating from the decided games breaks the tie. If that is also tied, the player with the better Challenge rank advances.

Do tournament games affect my Challenge record?

No. They do not affect your regular Challenge record, Rating, Strength of Schedule, streaks, or standings activity.

Are there prizes?

Only when a prize is listed on the tournament page. Prize events have additional age and location requirements.

What are the fair-play rules?

Use your own account and make your own picks. AI-assisted play, bots, scripts, account sharing, and tools that recommend or make picks during a game are not allowed. Stat GM may disqualify players or void results at its discretion.

See the Tournament rules for full eligibility, prize, and fair-play details.
