Survivor GM FAQ
How do I enter?
Open an event on the Tournaments page and click Enter Survivor GM before registration closes. Entry is free, and you can withdraw while registration remains open.
Who can enter?
You need an active rank in the Daily GM standings. That means you have completed at least 25 Daily GMs and submitted one within the current 21-day activity window. DNFs do not count as completed games.
How do I qualify?
The field freezes when the tournament begins. Entered players are ordered by their Daily GM rank, and the highest-ranked players fill the available spots. Your rank at that moment becomes your qualification seed for the entire tournament.
Entered players outside the available spots do not qualify for that tournament.
How large is the field?
An admin sets the field size anywhere from 2 to 250 players. The tournament page shows that limit before the field freezes and the actual field after it begins. If fewer eligible players enter, the tournament starts with the smaller field.
How does a round work?
Every active player completes one Stat GM draft before the round deadline. The round shows its elimination percentage and cutline, so you know exactly how many players advance.
There are no head-to-head matchups. You are drafting against the same board sequence as the entire field and trying to finish above the cutline.
Does everyone really get the same boards?
Yes. Every player receives the same first board, the same second board, and the same sequence after that. Players can draft at different times and make different picks, but nobody receives a different set of options.
Do I need to be online at a specific time?
No. Draft whenever you want during the open round, as long as you submit a complete lineup before the deadline.
Can the settings change between rounds?
Yes. Each round can use a different named Stat GM settings preset. The current round's settings, cut percentage, and deadline are revealed when that round begins. Future rounds stay hidden until they open.
How is the cutline decided?
Valid submitted lineups are ranked in this exact order:
Advancement order
- 1
- Round wins
- 2
- One-decimal lineup rating
- 3
- Spins remaining
- 4
- Cumulative Survivor Total Wins
- 5
- Frozen Daily GM qualification seed
The comparison stops as soon as one of those numbers separates two players. This creates an exact survivor count instead of advancing every player tied on wins.
What is Survivor Total Wins?
It is the number of projected wins you have accumulated across your completed Survivor GM rounds in that tournament. It does not replace the current round result; it is the fourth tiebreak after round wins, lineup rating, and spins remaining.
What happens if I do not finish?
A DNF is eliminated and cannot advance. If fewer valid lineups are submitted than the planned cutline, only those valid submitters move on. The tournament does not advance DNFs just to fill the next round.
If no remaining player submits a valid lineup, the tournament ends without a champion.
Can I see the other lineups during the round?
No. Picks, player seasons, roster links, and unfinished draft progress remain sealed while the round is open.
Once a player submits, the leaderboard can show that player's W-L result, one-decimal lineup rating, and spins remaining. The actual lineup becomes public only after the round settles.
What can I review after the round?
Completed rounds remain available from the round tabs. You can review the standings, see who advanced or was eliminated, and open each submitted lineup. The Outcome column also shows the first criterion that separated a player from the cutline when a tiebreak was needed.
The completed tournament and its rounds remain in the permanent archive.
Does Survivor GM affect my Daily GM rank?
No. Daily GM rank determines whether you can enter and sets your qualification seed when the tournament starts. Survivor GM rounds are a separate competition and do not become Daily GM entries or change your Daily GM career rank.
Why is there no public discussion thread?
Every entrant shares the same ordered board sequence. A public thread could reveal boards or picks before other players have drafted, so Survivor GM discussion stays closed while the competition is running.
Will I receive alerts?
Qualified players receive an alert when Round 1 opens. Survivors receive another when each later round opens, and the champion receives a completion alert. In-app alerts come first; email also requires a verified address with email alerts enabled.
There are no alerts for individual spins, picks, scores, cutline changes, eliminations, or newly public lineups.
Are there prizes?
Only when a prize is listed on the tournament page. Prize events have additional age and location requirements.
What are the fair-play rules?
Use your own account and make your own picks. AI-assisted play, bots, scripts, account sharing, and tools that recommend or make picks during a round are not allowed. Stat GM may disqualify players or void results at its discretion.
See the Tournament rules for full eligibility, prize, and fair-play details.
